Risk factors for prostate cancer
Age is the number one risk factor. The chances of developing this disease increase as you get older. Prostate cancer is rare in men under 40, and 60% of these cancer cases are in men over 70.
Family history If a close relative developed PCa before he was 60, you are four times more likely to develop it.
Ethnicity The highest rates of this cancer are recorded in Afro-Caribbean men.
Diets high in red meats and saturated fats are also considered a contributory factor.
40,000 men are diagnosed with PCa in the UK every year.
